The Law Offices of Michelle R. Hollister, PA is a boutique law firm dedicated to the legal issues associated with  aging and estates. I have practiced law for over 25 years, concentrating in the inter-related fields of estate planning, elder law and guardianships.

In addition to my law degee, I hold a Master’s in Business Administration. That background helps me guide clients in the financial decisions involved with estate planning long-term care planning. I am a member of the Elder Law Section of th Florida Bar, as well as the Real Property Probate and Trust Law Section. Since 2016, I have been board certified in Elder Law by the Florida Bar.

Guardianship law is a particular strength for me. I began my career as a probate staff attorney for the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit in Florida, later promoted to Court Probate & Guardianship Counsel and then to Director of Probate, Guardianship and Mental Health Services for the Circuit Court. That culminated in my appointment by Florida Gov. Jeb Bush as Executive Director of the  Statewide Public Guardianship Office in Tallahassee. As executive director, I was asked to advise and develop strategies for improving advance directives in Florida, and continued to serve in that role under Governor Charlie Crist. I also served two terms on the Board of Directors of the National Guardianship Association, including a stint as president.

I have served on numerous national and state work groups, and I’ve been invited to speak throughout Florida and across the country. One of my proudest moments was in 2011 when I had the privilege of testifying before the United States Senate Special Committee on Aging,

Biography

Michelle Hollister is a Florida Bar Board Certified Elder Law Attorney and has holds a master’s in business administration. She is a member of the Elder Law Section of the Florida Bar; Vice President of the Palm Beach chapter of the Florida State Guardianship Association and is a Past President of the National Guardianship Association. In addition, Michelle is also on the board of the Alzheimer’s Association and the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County. Michelle is an accredited attorney with the Veteran’s Administration.

Michelle has an elder law practice in Boca Raton with a focus on the long-term care needs of her clients as well as guardianship and estate planning. Previously, Michelle was appointed by Governor Jeb Bush as the Executive Director of the Statewide Public Guardianship Office (currently known as the Office of Public and Professional Guardianship) and she continued in this role for Governor Crist’s administration.

Michelle has participated on numerous state and local committees and workgroups, including Governor Bush’s Blue-Ribbon Panel on the Developmentally Disabled, Governor Bush’s Workgroup on Guardianship and the Developmentally Disabled, and the Florida Department of Children & Families Select Advisory Panel on Adult Protective Services. In addition, Michelle provided testimony to the United States Senate Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee regarding pending legislation affecting elders in the United States and Michelle was invited to participate in the 2015 White House Conference on Aging.
